The Vegas Golden Knights will turn back the clock Saturday, Oct. 10, when they host the Los Angeles Kings at T-Mobile Arena for Welcome to Impossible Knight, a special celebration honoring the franchise’s inaugural 2017 season.
The game is scheduled for 7 p.m. PT in Las Vegas and will be the first of five Anniversary Knights planned during the Golden Knights’ 10th NHL season. The celebration falls on the anniversary of the franchise’s first home game, which was played on Oct. 10, 2017.
A Night Built Around the Golden Knights’ First Season
Welcome to Impossible Knight will celebrate the season that put the expansion franchise on the national sports map.
The Golden Knights made an unexpected run to the Stanley Cup Final during their first season, becoming the most successful expansion team in professional sports history at the time. The Oct. 10 celebration will give fans a chance to revisit that opening chapter as the franchise begins its 10th NHL season.
The team is also bringing back a major piece of its early identity for the occasion.
The Golden Knights say the game will be the final time the team wears its inaugural gray jerseys before those uniforms are retired from the regular rotation.
First 10,000 Fans to Receive Commemorative Puck
Fans attending the game will have another reason to arrive early.
The first 10,000 fans through the doors will receive a commemorative puck inspired by the one distributed during the franchise’s first home game in 2017.
The giveaway is part of the Golden Knights’ Season X promotional lineup and gives the anniversary celebration a physical connection to the team’s first year in Las Vegas.
Former Golden Knights Return for Fan Fest
The anniversary festivities will begin before puck drop.
The Golden Knights will host a free Fan Fest from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. PT at Paramount+ Plaza, presented by Raising Cane’s. Members of the original Golden Knights team are scheduled to participate in the event.
Former players expected at Fan Fest include Pierre-Edouard Bellemare, Oscar Dansk, Cody Eakin, Deryk Engelland, Brad Hunt, James Neal and Ryan Reaves. Former head coach Gerard Gallant is also scheduled to take part.
Fans will have opportunities to hear former team members discuss the franchise’s first season, get autographs and potentially receive a jersey from former players in attendance.
Inaugural Season Memorabilia Will Be on Display
The celebration will also feature historical artifacts from the Golden Knights’ first season.
Those items will be displayed at Fan Fest, giving fans a closer look at the early days of a franchise that quickly became one of the NHL’s biggest new stories.
The event is free and open to the public, while attendees will also have a chance to enter a drawing for tickets to the night’s game.
Kings Come to Las Vegas for Saturday Night Matchup
The Los Angeles Kings will provide the opposition when the anniversary celebration moves inside T-Mobile Arena.
The game is officially scheduled for 7 p.m. PT on Saturday, Oct. 10. T-Mobile Arena and the Golden Knights both list the matchup on their current event calendars.
While the Kings and Golden Knights will compete for two points in the regular season standings, much of the attention surrounding the night will be focused on the franchise’s history.
Season X Marks a Major Franchise Milestone
The Golden Knights are calling the 2026 to 27 campaign Season X as the franchise reaches its 10th NHL season.
Welcome to Impossible Knight is the first of five Anniversary Knights scheduled throughout the season. Each event will focus on a different period of the team’s history.
The Golden Knights have designed the anniversary series to give fans a chance to revisit important moments from the franchise’s first decade while celebrating the team’s continued presence in Las Vegas.
Why Welcome to Impossible Knight Stands Out
Saturday’s event offers more than a standard NHL game.
Fans will get a combination of live hockey, former player appearances, historic memorabilia, a pregame Fan Fest and a limited commemorative giveaway. The return of the inaugural gray jerseys also makes the night particularly notable for longtime Golden Knights fans.
With the Golden Knights celebrating the beginning of their 10th season, T-Mobile Arena is set to become a showcase for the franchise’s unusual rise from expansion team to established NHL contender.
