The Colorado Rockies are giving baseball fans a reason to bring their four-legged friends to the ballpark this week.
The Rockies will host the Arizona Diamondbacks at Coors Field on Tuesday, September 22, with first pitch scheduled for 6:40 p.m. MDT. The game will also feature the return of Bark at the Park, a special ticketed event that lets fans attend the game with their dogs in a designated area of the stadium.
Dogs Take Over Coors Field for Bark at the Park
Bark at the Park is designed around a dog-friendly ballpark experience for Rockies fans and their pets.
Fans who purchase the special ticket package receive access to the designated Dog Zone, where they can watch the Rockies face the Diamondbacks alongside their dogs. The package also includes a pregame parade around the warning track and a Rockies dog bandana while supplies last.
A portion of each Bark at the Park ticket sale will also benefit a local animal rescue foundation, adding a charitable component to the event.
The Pregame Parade Is Part of the Experience
One of the more unusual parts of the event takes place before the first pitch.
Participating fans and their dogs can take part in a pregame parade around the warning track at Coors Field. That gives attendees a chance to see the ballpark from a different perspective before settling into the Dog Zone for the game.
For a Major League Baseball game, the combination of a pregame dog parade and designated pet seating makes the September 22 matchup different from a typical night at the ballpark.
What Dog Owners Need to Know
The Rockies have specific rules for dogs attending Bark at the Park.
Dogs must remain on a leash throughout the event, and dogs other than service animals are restricted to designated Bark at the Park areas. Fans also need at least one owner in attendance for each dog.
The team says participating dogs should be at least 4 months old, up to date on required vaccinations, in relatively good health and comfortable around people and other dogs. Dogs that are overly aggressive, excessively fearful or unable to handle stairs and a busy ballpark environment may not be suitable for the event.
Rockies Face the Diamondbacks at 6:40 p.m.
The baseball game itself will put the Rockies against the Arizona Diamondbacks in a three-game series at Coors Field.
The September 22 matchup is scheduled for 6:40 p.m. MDT, with the series continuing Wednesday night before Thursday afternoon’s series finale.
That gives fans attending Tuesday’s game two attractions in one night: a late-season National League matchup and one of the Rockies’ more unusual theme experiences.
Bark at the Park Returns September 22
Bark at the Park is also scheduled for Wednesday, September 23, when the Rockies again host Arizona at Coors Field. The Rockies list both September 22 and September 23 as Bark at the Park dates.
For September 22, the event offers a distinctly different way to experience a Rockies game, combining Major League Baseball with a dog-friendly night at one of Denver’s best-known sports venues.
