Riot Fest 2026 Kicks Off in Chicago With Twenty One Pilots, Iggy Pop and a Packed Friday Lineup

Chicago is getting ready for one of its biggest alternative music weekends of the year as Riot Fest 2026 officially gets underway Friday at Douglass Park.

The three-day festival runs from September 18 through September 20, bringing more than 90 artists across multiple stages along with food, drinks, carnival rides, arcade games and other festival attractions.

Friday’s lineup puts Twenty One Pilots and Iggy Pop at the center of the opening day, with Rise Against, Pixies, Alkaline Trio, The All-American Rejects, the Sex Pistols, Santigold and Motion City Soundtrack also scheduled to perform.

Friday Brings a Mix of Punk, Rock and Alternative Favorites

Riot Fest has built its identity around mixing established names with newer acts, and the 2026 Friday schedule follows that formula.

Twenty One Pilots and Iggy Pop headline the opening day, while Chicago-area favorite Rise Against joins the bill alongside Pixies and Alkaline Trio.

The Friday schedule also includes The All-American Rejects, the Sex Pistols, Santigold, Motion City Soundtrack, GWAR, Slick Rick, 3OH!3, Bayside, Bratmobile and Mariachi El Bronx.

That range gives Friday a distinctly varied festival lineup, moving between punk, alternative rock, hip-hop and other sounds throughout the day.

Riot Fest Returns to Douglass Park

The festival is once again taking over Chicago’s Douglass Park for the full weekend.

Riot Fest is scheduled to run Friday through Sunday, with daily passes and multi-day tickets available. General admission includes access to the festival grounds, food and beverage vendors, carnival rides, arcade games, multiple stages and more than 90 artists.

The setting also keeps the festival closely connected to Chicago, where Riot Fest has become an established part of the city’s fall music calendar.

Saturday Brings Tool and Morrissey

The festival keeps the big names coming on Saturday.

Tool and Morrissey are among Saturday’s headliners, with NAS also appearing near the top of the day’s lineup. Social Distortion, Bad Religion, Bright Eyes, Descendents, Gogol Bordello, Public Image Ltd., PUP and Thrice are also scheduled.

Saturday’s schedule gives the weekend another heavy dose of punk, alternative rock and other veteran acts.

Sunday Features Alanis Morissette and Pierce the Veil

Sunday closes out the festival with another major lineup.

Pierce the Veil, Alanis Morissette and Elvis Costello & The Imposters are listed among Sunday’s leading acts. The day also includes The Format, Patti Smith and Her Band, Twin Peaks, Taking Back Sunday, Insane Clown Posse, Pennywise, The Beths and Bowling For Soup.

The combination gives Sunday a different flavor from the first two days while keeping the festival’s emphasis on recognizable acts and longtime alternative music favorites.

Riot Fest Keeps the Music Going After Dark

The festival experience does not end when the main stages wrap up.

Riot Fest has scheduled a series of official late-night shows around Chicago on Friday and Saturday.

Friday’s aftershows include Yard Act with The Armed at Cobra Lounge, The Beths with Lunar Vacation at Concord Music Hall, Thrice with Hot Rod Circuit at Bottom Lounge, Mariachi El Bronx with Max Diaz at Reggies, PUP with Destroy Boys at Metro and Chat Pile with Soul Glo at the Empty Bottle.

Several of those shows have already sold out or have limited ticket availability, according to Riot Fest’s official schedule.

A Full Chicago Weekend for Music Fans

Riot Fest 2026 is more than a single headlining concert. The three-day event combines multiple stages with food and drink vendors, carnival rides, arcade games, charging stations and other attractions throughout Douglass Park.

For Chicago music fans, the opening day offers a particularly broad mix, with Twenty One Pilots and Iggy Pop leading a Friday schedule that stretches from punk and alternative rock to hip-hop and electronic-influenced acts.

The festival continues through Sunday, September 20, giving attendees three days of live music across a wide range of genres.
