Sacramento is getting a dose of classic circus spectacle this week as Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey’s The Greatest Show on Earth arrives at Golden 1 Center on Thursday, September 17.
The production opens at 7 p.m. and begins a four-day Sacramento run that continues through September 20. The show combines acrobatics, comedy, stunts, music and audience interaction in a modern take on the longtime American circus tradition.
A New Generation of Circus Entertainment
The latest version of The Greatest Show on Earth is designed as a fast-paced family production rather than a traditional circus presentation.
According to Golden 1 Center, the show features high-flying acrobatics, edge-of-your-seat stunts, music and plenty of audience interaction. The production brings performers from around the world together for a large-scale arena spectacle.
The show includes a high-speed bicycle troupe performing stunts, moving human pyramids and balance acts. Acrobats from Mongolia are featured in strength and aerial performances, while a Latin dance group combines dance and acrobatics.
The Circus Takes Over Golden 1 Center
Golden 1 Center normally serves as one of Sacramento’s biggest destinations for basketball, concerts and other major events. For this four-day engagement, the downtown arena will instead become the setting for a full-scale circus production.
The Sacramento run begins September 17 at 7 p.m., followed by another 7 p.m. performance on September 18. Two performances are scheduled for September 19 at 11 a.m. and 3 p.m., with two additional shows on September 20 at noon and 4 p.m.
Doors open one hour before each performance, according to Golden 1 Center.
Music, Acrobats and Audience Participation
The production puts music at the center of the experience, with a DJ-led pre-show beginning 30 minutes before the scheduled performance.
The Ringling Hype Crew will interact with the crowd before the main show, using music and audience participation to build excitement inside the arena. The pre-show is included with admission.
The production also features an exclusive musical collaboration with rising country artist Maddox Batson, adding a contemporary country element to the circus experience.
Family Entertainment With a Modern Twist
Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey is presenting the Sacramento engagement as an experience designed for multiple generations.
The current production combines familiar circus elements with modern staging, music and interactive moments. Younger audience members can also encounter characters such as Bailey the Robo Pup during the show.
The company is also offering a limited-time $15 kids ticket promotion for select Sacramento performances, with restrictions and fees applying.

The Sacramento engagement runs from September 17 through September 20, 2026, giving families several opportunities to attend rather than limiting the production to a single night.
