Actor Antonio Banderas said Tom Holland would be ideal for the Zorro legacy.
Hook Antonio Banderas up with Hollywood please
As one of Hollywood’s most iconic Latino characters, it’s only fitting that Antonio Banderas would want to see the Zorro legacy carried on by fellow Latinos in Hollywood. And who better to take on the mantle than Tom Holland and Javier Botet?
With his swashbuckling good looks and smooth Spanish accent, Banderas made the character of Zorro his own in the 1998 film The Mask of Zorro. And while he’s since hung up his cape and sword, he believes that Holland and Botet would be perfect to take on the iconic role.
“I think they would be great,” Banderas told Variety when asked about potential successors. “I think Javier Botet is an amazing actor — he can do anything! — and Tom Holland is such a gifted young actor.”
Holland has already made a name for himself as Spider-Man, while Botet is best known for his work in horror films like Mama and The Conjuring 2. Both actors have the physicality and charisma to pull off the role of Zorro, and we can’t think of anyone better to carry on the legacy of this beloved character.
What is Zorro?
Zorro is a fictional hero who appeared in short stories, novels, films, television series and other media. He was created in 1919 by Johnston McCulley and has been featured in numerous works over the past century.
Zorro is typically portrayed as a dashing masked vigilante who defends the oppressed people of California against villains such as corrupt officials and jealous tyrants. He is known for his skill with a sword and his trademark black cape and mask.
While the character’s origins are based on historical figures, he has become a larger-than-life figure in popular culture. He has been referenced or parodied in countless works of fiction and has been played by many notable actors over the years, including Antonio Banderas, Douglas Fairbanks Sr., Tyrone Power, George Hamilton and Gilbert Roland.
Why do we need a new Zorro?
We need a new Zorro for a few reasons. First, the original Zorro, Don Diego de la Vega, is getting too old to keep up the fight. Second, there are new villains in town that require a new, younger Zorro to take them down. Third, a new generation needs a new hero to look up to. fourth, and Finally, we need someone who can fill Antonio Banderas’s very large shoes.
Heroes vs Villans: Who comes out on top?
The age-old question of who would win in a fight between a hero and a villain has been debated time and time again. But what if the two characters were played by the same actor? In a recent interview, Antonio Banderas was asked who he thought would come out on top in a fight between Tom Holland’s Spider-Man and Javier Botet’s Mummy.
“I think it would be an even match,” Banderas said. “But then again, I have seen Javier do some pretty amazing things with his body, so I think he might have the upper hand.”
We’re not sure we agree with Banderas on this one. We think Spider-Man would come out on top thanks to his super strength and agility. But what do you think
