The origin of Boxing actually takes place in Australia where it was called Australian Rules boxing and the rules were put into place in turn by the Boxing Association of Australia or ABA. The ABA was formed after the amateur boxing events in Australia were banned by the government due to public fear and they decided to introduce professional boxing events to increase interest in the sport. The first matches of the new form of boxing were held in Australia during the month of December, where local crowds gave the new sport a huge standing ovation.
