Former New York Gov. The International Academy announced Tuesday that Andrew Cuomo would lose his 2020 Emmy Award.

According to the release, Cuomo’s name will no longer be mentioned in any International Academy material.

“In light the New York Attorney General’s report and Andrew Cuomo’s resignation as Governor, [the International Academy] has rescinded his special 2020 International Emmy Award,” said a statement.

Cuomo was awarded the “for effective communication, leadership during the COVID-19 pandemic,” according to the International Academy in 2020.

The Emmy was created to recognize those who can transcend cultural divides in connecting to a “common humanity.”

Cuomo was recognized for using television to calm people and provide information in the first months of the coronavirus pandemic.
