While some have expressed concern about the addition of the Do Not Track button, YouTube has stated that it has received requests from several advertisers requesting the ability to verify their YouTube videos. YouTube has chosen to implement Do Not Track in conjunction with YouTube Verify, as a means to provide creators with protection against pranks and spam marketers.
The Do Not Track switch is available on a voluntary basis to all users, meaning that if you would like to have YouTube block certain videos from being added to your watch list, you need to contact YouTube support. You can then set the Do Not Track switch to true, and request that your account be verified instead. Once you’ve done so, you’ll see the Do Not Track icon appear in the lower right hand corner of your browser. You’ll also be asked to enter a verification code that will be included in an email sent to you by YouTube. For users without Do Not Track activated accounts, YouTube will not verify new uploads – this is the same situation used by Facebook for verification.
