Elon Musk’s Tesla, an electric vehicle maker, announced Friday that it had produced and delivered more than 200,000 vehicles in Q2 2021 despite many difficulties. The electric vehicle company delivered 201,250 vehicles and produced 206 421 vehicles in the second quarter. The company released a statement saying that its teams had done an excellent job in navigating the global supply chain and logistic challenges.
“Congratulations Tesla Team for over 200,000 cars built and delivered in Q2 despite many challenges!” The CEO tweeted. Tesla delivered 185,000 units globally last quarter, a record. Musk wrote last week to employees that Tesla was “executing well”, but they must “go all-in” at the end.
The CEO stated that Tesla faced significant supply chain problems during the quarter. The new Model S Plaid was officially unveiled by Tesla in June at Fremont’s delivery event. It starts at $130,000, after a recent price hike of $10,000. This comes amid inspections and investigations into Tesla cars following reports of them setting themselves ablaze. The Model S Plaid, owned by Elon Musk, caught fire in Haverford, Pennsylvania while its owner was driving it, according to media reports.
Daily Reuters was told by the car owner’s lawyers that he saw smoke coming from his 2021 Model S Plaid. He tried to unlock the doors and get out, but the locks appeared to be malfunctioning.
The car began to move after he had left it and flames quickly engulfed the vehicle.
Tesla began deliveries of its Model S Plaid, a high-performance version, of its flagship electric sedan in June. This was after Joe Rogan’s announcement that they would start in February.
Musk stated in April that there were “more challenges than anticipated” during development and said that it took “quite a lot of development to ensure the safety of the new S-X and X batteries.”
Charles McGarvey of the Lower Merion Township Fire Department said that two firefighter teams were on the scene for less than three hours, dealing with the emergency.
According to Daily Reuters News, it can take up to 25,000 gallons for an electric vehicle battery fire to completely extinguish.
The report stated that a typical car fire with an internal combustion engine could be extinguished using around 300 gallons of water.
