Apple’s next flagship smartphone, the iPhone 14, is expected to sport a new display design and support an “always-on” mode. This mode, which has been mentioned in previous versions of iOS, has been used as a model for iOS 16 wallpaper. Using an always-on screen allows a system to display a clock and time without consuming too much battery power. The feature has already been incorporated into some Android smartphones and Apple Watch Series 5.
iPhone 14 Pro always-on screen behavior
As we mentioned in a previous article, the iPhone 14 Pro is expected to support always-on display. While there is no official confirmation yet, previous versions of iOS have already referenced this new behavior through system wallpapers. However, this new feature is already available on some Android phones and even on the Apple Watch Series 5 and later. The following are some of the key features of the new iPhone.
Alerts appear in the center of the screen
Apple users may be wondering why their alerts aren’t showing in the center of the screen. First, they shouldn’t have to. Apple has made the notification center customizable for users. This means users can display a single alert or compartmentalize alerts by app. Unlike the previous version of iOS, this new version doesn’t show alerts that require immediate attention. Users will also have access to “Remember Me” and “Message” buttons. Nevertheless, users need to keep in mind that using a banner alert requires an extra step. For example, to answer an incoming FaceTime video call, users will have to do two things – click the notification and press the ‘Remind Me’ button. On the other hand, the full alert only requires one action.

Focus mode applies to widgets and lock screen looks
The new Focus mode has expanded the functionality of the iPhone throughout the experience, from the home screen to the Lock Screen. Custom widgets and lock screen looks can be matched with a specific Focus mode, and live activities can make your lock screen more interactive. Siri, Messages, and Calendar are all customizable for Focus mode. Dictation is an excellent way to type quickly and easily on your iPhone, but there are some limitations. iOS 16 aims to increase Dictation’s performance and add more features for iPhone users.
iOS 16 moves notifications to the bottom of your display
Apple’s latest mobile operating system, iOS 16, has made it possible to move notifications to the bottom of your iPhone’s display. Its new notification layout looks much nicer than a long list of notifications, and is especially useful if you frequently use your phone one-handed. Apple also includes a new tool for developers known as Live Activities, which allows developers to display notifications associated with a single tile in the middle of the screen.
