What exactly do you do?
I am a makeup artist, actress and Tv host.
What was the process for your career when you first started?
I packed up everything in my car and moved from Chicago, a few months later I enrolled in makeup school.
What does being a successful up and coming actress and talk show host include?
Interviews and getting the tea on the artist lol. All in all I am very busy and I’m just taking it one day at a time.
What is the most rewarding part of doing what you do?
The most rewarding thing for me is always learning something new that I can always use somewhere else. i learned how to edit videos, i learned how to work a camera and camcorder. these are skills i can take everywhere with me.
What do you want your audience to know about you?
My Instagram may look like i got everything together, but honey not at all.
What is your greatest success so far when it comes to what you do?
My greatest success I would say so far is the slew of people I have gotten to work with as a makeup artist.
Where did your career originate from?
Well lizzie McGuire and Hannah Montana were /is my favorite shows. So i guess the idea originated from them. When I was in middle school I was in the car and a commercial for JRP came on. I did my research and it was all history from there. Although i never went through JRP it was very informative.
Where are you from Raytysha Lashay?
I’m from Chicago. But I’m also a military brat so I’ve lived in a few other places.
What are some of the challenges you faced along the way?
Oh boy, I don’t even know where to start. I worked 3 jobs when I first moved to California because I didn’t believe people when they said how expensive it was. I was even picking up extra shifts at all 3 jobs. And at the same time I was attending makeup school. I found myself working for someone else rather than working on my craft. Till this day i still find myself spending more time at work than working on my craft and that’s when i take a step back and be like ” Hey i need to take a few days to myself to reset and remember the bigger picture”.
So, Miss Raytysha Lashay. What does it take to be successful in what you do?
Time management for sure. I am horrible at time management so i am still learning. Sometimes ill find myself up at 4 am filming a video or just catching up on everything for my craft.
Where do you see yourself in the next five years?
In the next 5 years I see myself NOT working a job that I feel forced to do because I have bills. But to be living out a dream I’ve had every night for many years.
What are some advice you would give to young Actors and tv show hosts?
Do your research! There are great acting classes with great teachers out here. and because of covid you can take them online. Always keep working on your craft, even if you feel so drained. take 30 minutes at least out of your day to study lines or record.
Who/What is your biggest inspiration?
I would have to say my biggest inspirations would be Gabrielle Union and Miley Cyrus because they are doing what they love and carefree of what the media is saying.
Anything else audience should know about Raytysha Lashay?
If given an opportunity to try something always take it to try it out at the very least because it might go hand and hand with what you’re already doing. Never stop learning.
